WANO's commitment to local news is substantial. Many years ago, South
Bevins coined the phrase "when news breaks out, WANO Radio breaks in".
Whether it's severe weather, or our regularly scheduled newscasts, WANO
keeps the community in touch with what's important. No other news
organization in the Tri-State area can match our commitment to reporting
local news in a timely fashion.
Why wait for the newspaper once per day when WANO offers
up-to-the-minute news six times a day? Each day of the week, WANO
broadcasts Tri-State Radio News headlines at 6am, 7am, 8am, 12noon, 4pm
and 5pm (with the exception of Sundays, when news is broadcast at 1pm
instead of Noon). Each newscast offers an extended look at what's going
on in and around Bell County, as well as major news from throughout
Kentucky. We cover City Council, Fiscal Court, and other local
government meetings throughout the area, and report in a timely fashion.
Following each local newscast is a look at the Obituary Column, an item
important to many people in the area.
WANO also offers special coverage of important local events,
specifically including local elections. In the weeks preceding the
election, count on us for fair and unbiased interviews with the
candidates, and on election day, tune in for live up-to-the-minute
election returns. We're the ONLY place to turn to hear the results as
they are tabulated.
Finally, when severe weather comes to the area, turn to WANO for
complete coverage. In our mountains, severe weather can have tragic
results, and strike without notice. Stay tuned to WANO, and stay
informed!

treated strictly confidentially.
